This 7-day Rongai Route trek starts at Rongai Gate and concludes at Marangu Gate. It offers a unique approach from the northeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro, combining spectacular views, diverse landscapes, and a more tranquil climbing experience.

our journey begins with a drive through charming villages and coffee plantations to Nale Muru, a scenic wooden village. The trail starts in the lush rainforest, transitioning to the dry north side and leading to the heather zone.
The day begins with a steady climb to Second Cave through heather-filled heathlands adorned with wildflowers. Enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo and the eastern glaciers. After lunch, take a narrow path towards Mawenzi’s jagged peaks.
Spend the morning relaxing to adjust to the altitude. Later, trek across the heath to Third Cave, situated closer to Mawenzi’s stunning peaks.

A short, steep climb offers rewarding panoramic views. The landscape shifts to rocky highlands dotted with volcanic boulders, showcasing the region’s volcanic past. The camp is nestled in a valley surrounded by Mawenzi’s towering spires.
Trek across the barren lunar landscape of “The Saddle,” connecting Mawenzi and Kibo. Upon reaching Kibo Huts, prepare for the summit attempt with rest and proper gear for the night climb.
Begin your midnight ascent to Gilman’s Point, navigating challenging terrain. Reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise for breathtaking views and the ultimate achievement—Africa’s highest point! Descend back to Kibo Huts for lunch and continue to Horombo Huts for the night.
Make your final descent through lush rainforest to Marangu Gate. Celebrate with lunch and bid farewell to the mountain crew before driving back to Arusha for a well-deserved hot shower and celebratory dinner.
