Despite the many efforts made by the government to enable communities to achieve self-development and get out of poverty, many Tanzanian communities (more than 70%) still do not have the ability to access their basic needs such as clean and safe water, good nutrition and food security, better education for children, access to health services and the presence of opportunities for economic empowerment and production. The most affected group of these challenges are children, youth, women and the elderly people.
Due to these challenges, both maternal mortality and child mortality rates is still significant, in many communities, while children of school age are not in school due to drop out or failure to sustain their studies due lack of nutrition and early pregnancies besides other families’ odds. The lack of vocational skills, empowerments opportunities and employability, and appropriate self-employment ability for young people has made a large group of young people to be on the streets without any productive activities, a situation that leads them in risk behaviors and crimes.
In view of this, Kilinyota Safaris has chosen to be part of the solution to some of these challenges by providing opportunities for individual visitors, institutions, and well-wishers to visit and be able to witness the reality in these communities in order to contribute, advise and participate by coming with evidence-based interventions to address the existing challenges.
Recently, Kilinyota has given opportunities to several well-wishers who have enabled scholarships in the areas of education for children, and opportunities to raise the economy of deprived women’s led families. Their support has enabled 2 girl children to obtain quality education while provision of livelihood support has enabled two families to meet their well-being needs through increased household income.
