10-Day Serengeti Migration & Cultural Discovery

Karibu Tanzania (Welcome)

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by your driver-guide for a warm welcome and a brief introductory session. You will then transfer to your hotel in Arusha.

• The Experience: Relax and recover from your flight in the “Geneva of Africa.” If time permits, explore the local markets or coffee plantations nearby.
• Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Arusha.

The Pink Lake & Tree-Climbing Lions

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment.

• The Experience: Enjoy a delightful picnic lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. The park is famous for its “groundwater forests” which feel like a tropical jungle compared to the savannahs.
• Wildlife Highlights: Look for the park’s legendary tree-climbing lions resting on acacia branches. The shallow soda lake is often painted pink by thousands of flamingos and is home to pods of hippos.
• Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp in Manyara or Karatu.

Journey to the Endless Plains

Today, we travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, descending into the world-famous Serengeti National Park.

• The Experience: The drive itself is a scenic game drive. As you crest the crater highlands, the view opens up to the endless plains (“Siringet” in Maasai).
• Wildlife Highlights: Keep your eyes open for spotting the “Big Cats” (Lion, Leopard, Cheetah) as you approach the Seronera Valley, the heart of the park.
• Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp in Central Serengeti.

The Heart of the Wilderness

Enjoy a full day dedicated to the Central Serengeti (Seronera), known for its year-round resident wildlife.

• The Experience: With a packed lunch, you can maximize your time in the bush. Your guide will take you to the rock kopjes, where lions love to sunbathe.
• Wildlife Highlights: This area has the highest density of leopards in Tanzania. You will also see large herds of buffalo, impala, and topis.
• Accommodation: Return to your accommodation for dinner and rest.

The Great Migration Spectacle

We shift our focus to the Southern Serengeti or Ndutu region (season dependent) to witness the Great Migration.

• The Experience: This is where the magic happens between Jan and March (calving season) or early migration movement (April-June). You will witness the awe-inspiring sight of millions of wildebeests and zebras covering the plains.
• Wildlife Highlights: The abundance of vulnerable calves attracts a high number of predators. Watch for cheetahs sprinting across the short grass and hyenas lurking near the herds.
• Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp in Serengeti.

History of Mankind

We start with an early morning game drive as we exit the Serengeti and head back toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

• The Experience: We will stop at the Olduvai Gorge, a significant archaeological site where Dr. Louis Leakey discovered fossils of early humans. Visit the museum to understand the history of our ancestors.
• Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp on the Crater Rim or nearby Karatu.

The Garden of Eden

Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day tour of this collapsed volcanic caldera.

• The Experience: The crater walls create a natural enclosure, resulting in an incredibly high density of wildlife. It is one of the few places in Africa where you can see the Big Five in a single day.
• Wildlife Highlights: Look for the critically endangered Black Rhino, massive bull elephants, and flamingos at Lake Magadi.
• Accommodation: Ascend the crater in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Land of Giants

Depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its baobab trees and large elephant population.

• The Experience: The landscape shifts to a drier, more open woodland. The Tarangire River flows through the park, acting as a magnet for wildlife.
• Wildlife Highlights: Tarangire hosts some of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania. You will also see oryx, gerenuk, and vibrant birdlife.
• Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp in Tarangire.

Maasai Immersion

Unlike standard safaris, today is dedicated to cultural connection.

• The Experience: You will visit a local Maasai boma (village) or participate in a cultural tour near the park boundaries.
• Highlights: Learn about their semi-nomadic lifestyle, traditional medicine, and cattle herding practices. Participate in a traditional dance or visit a local school to see the community side of Tanzania.
• Accommodation: Return to your lodge for a final dinner in the bush.

Kwa Heri (Goodbye)

After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive (flight time permitting) or a scenic drive back to Arusha.

• Drop-off: You will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your international flight or your hotel in Arusha, marking the end of your unforgettable adventure.
