Your 2-day Tanzania safari begins with a pick-up from your lodge in Arusha after breakfast. We will embark on a scenic drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a gem beneath the Rift Valley escarpment known for its incredible biodiversity.
Upon entering the park, keep your eyes peeled for Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions and vast elephant herds. For bird enthusiasts, this park is a dream come true; the alkaline lake attracts thousands of majestic flamingos, creating a shimmering pink shoreline. You will also spot circling birds of prey, the vibrant lilac-breasted roller, and arguably the most diverse avian population in East Africa.
Our game drive includes a visit to the Hippo Pool, where you can safely observe these massive creatures wallowing in the water. Rise early for breakfast before we head towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a highlight of any Tanzania wildlife tour. Today, we descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera.
Spanning approximately 20 kilometers wide, this natural amphitheater is home to the highest density of wildlife in Africa. During your game drive, you will have the best chance to spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and the rare black rhino) all in a single day. The crater floor is also teeming with Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, mountain reedbucks, spotted hyenas, and elusive wild dogs.
We will stop for a unique picnic lunch at a designated site near the hippo pool, surrounded by wildlife in their natural habitat. After soaking in the breathtaking views and diverse avian inhabitants, we will ascend the crater rim and begin our journey back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon to conclude your unforgettable 2-day safari adventure.
